Supply and Demand for Accounting Ph.D.s

The American Accounting Association and the Accounting Programs Leadership Group has issued a report on the shortage of Ph.D.-qualified accounting faculty, whether that shortage is expected to grow and what can be done.
  Some of the report's recommendations to meeting the demand for Ph.D.s include:

• informing potential doctoral students about the opportunities that result from obtaining a doctorate in accounting
• providing fnancial support to Ph.D. students
• diversifying teaching specialties
