Eligibility

CPA

Any person holding a certificate from the state of California as a Certified Public Accountant and anyperson who is a resident of California and who holds a certificate or similar document as a Certified Public Accountant of another state or subdivision of the United States is eligible for CalCPA membership.

Student

Any person who is a full-time or part-time student and has never been licensed as a CPA may apply for CalCPA Student membership.

Candidate

Any person who has a bachelor’s degree and is pursuing one of the California Board of Accountancy pathways to licensure and has never been licensed as a CPA may apply for CalCPA Candidate membership.

Associate

You qualify for CalCPA Associate membership if you meet one of the following criteria and have two CalCPA licensed member sponsors:

  • Non-CPA owner of a CPA firm;
  • Billable professional employed in a CPA firm;
  • Educator teaching accounting or accounting-related courses at a college or university;
  • Foreign Licensee;
  • Public Accountant (PA);
  • Anyone in industry, government or education, holding a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and working under the direct supervision of a CPA;
  • Non-CPA serving on a CalCPA state or chapter committee; or
  • Non-CPA professional working in financial, legal or banking services.

Dues


Executive—CPAs who are partners, sole practitioners, consultant/owners or attorneys.

Professional Staff/Manager–Licensed less than 5 years—CPAs in public practice not described above, CPAs in government or located out-of-state who have been licensed less than five years.

Professional Staff/Manager–Licensed 5 or more years—CPAs in public practice not described above, CPAs in government or located out-of-state who have been licensed more than five years.

CPA—Salaried Employees Not Providing Billable Professional Services
The following categories include all licensed CPAs who are not currently providing billable professional services as described above.


Financial Leadership Forum/Business/Industry—Business and finance professionals and CPAs working in business and industry. (Non-CPAs pay Associate rate).

Education—Must be full-time accounting educator at a college or university.

Retired/Temporarily Left Work Force—CPAs who are retired or who have temporarily left the workforce.
